2012 Myology Course

2012 Myology Course

As part of our mission to promote collaborations and learning across overlapping areas of muscle disease and treatment research, Nationwide Children’s Hospital in connection with our Muscle Group held a five-day Myology Course for students and postdocs in September 2012, directed by Dr. Kevin Flanigan. This was the first US workshop of its kind, featuring a mix of basic and clinical science lectures followed by specific training in either clinical treatment protocols or basic science laboratory techniques. The goal of these courses is to help trainees go beyond a basic understanding of muscle disease by gaining insights and experience from experts in the field. We ultimately want to help prepare the next generation of clinicians and translational researchers for successful research careers. Our 2nd Myology Course is scheduled for August 26-30, 2013 and applications for registrations will be announced soon.
